Painted in oil on canvas, the original painting behind this piece took Brett a full calendar year to produce, working 6 days a week.
This stretch of coastline is located in Fréjus on the French Mediterranean coast. Several visits from Brett were required in order to build up the reference sketches needed to produce the painting.
Notice in this picture that the footprints in the sand are not barefoot. Somebody has been walking in shoes and made heavy work of the journey.
This canvas print asks us to stop and turn aside; to open ourselves to the beauty that we would not normally have time to engage with. Stop the heavy trudge for a moment and look up. The Truth will set you free.
There are no short cuts when producing a painting with this level of detail and craftsmanship. Brett has been asked many times whether any digital trickery or imagery is involved. This is not the case. There is no other way to produce a painting like this than by working without compromise.
A time lapse film has been made chronicling the development of this painting over a full year from start to finish. It can be viewed on Brett's Time Lapse Video Page.
This beautiful and very large panoramic limited edition canvas print makes a powerful statement on any wall and is equally at home in a modern or classical interior. It measures 102 x 61cm
I'm absolutely thrilled with my painting. I have to glance at it every time I enter the room. All our visitors say that they feel such a calming effect when they see Mediterranean Symphony
