This is the third painting in the Tuiscint series and it takes place on the North East coast of Ireland. Here for the first time we are introduced to a male figure who seems oblivious to the storm behind him, as the sun sets against a menacing sky. The man has turned his back to the land and carries a heavy burden in his hands. It appears as if he has chosen to pick up one of many stones that lie at his feet. His eyes seem fixed on the past as he tries to make sense of what he is carrying. Yet he stands beside a symbol of hope and there is shelter behind him. All he needs do is change the direction of his gaze.
This was a gift for my aunt, who says it reminds her of growing up in Northern Ireland. She absolutely loved it and it is now proudly displayed in Canada!
