‘Spirit of Cheltenham’ is a living, breathing representation of the reason behind this racecourse’s enduring appeal. The result of the race in question has not been decided, nor can it be predicted. The horses are grouped in such a manner that, with three fences remaining, there are still a myriad of possibilities as to who will win.
The inspiration behind this Limited Edition Print was a desire to recreate the unique atmosphere of racing at Cheltenham Racecourse: the home of jump racing. Cleeve Hill is an ever-present guardian over events at Cheltenham, dominating the racecourse landscape. Whilst making the horses the subject of the painting, Brett has tried to give Cleeve Hill that same dominance over the viewer’s subconscious that one experiences in the flesh when attending a meeting there.
Brett’s philosophy when painting is that he wants to produce a window into a living, breathing world. There is nothing static, everything can be felt: from the excitement of the horses racing, to the temperature of the late January air. That is why it was so important, throughout the full year spent producing the original painting, for him to be able to work from life, bringing his easel repeatedly to the centre of the course.
This fine art limited edition Giclee print is available in two standard sizes plus a very special panoramic canvas print. It is lovingly produced both on 390gsm stretched canvas and 270gsm archival paper.
Brett is based in the South East of England and exports his art worldwide. As well as producing the original oil paintings and pencil drawings that form the core of his stunning portfolio, Brett also creates the limited edition prints and even frames them himself. He insists on using the highest quality materials, inks and archival processes available. Every piece for sale on this site has been produced by the artist himself.
